Hi,

My question is this: should I install Ubuntu 9.04 using Wubi (or should I say, under Windows) or should I make a dedicated partition? I'm installing on a portable hard drive. I used it under Windows before with 8.04, but I'm not sure which installation method will give me the best performance.

My main question is one that I get mixed answers for: does a fragmented hard drive affect an under windows installation of Ubuntu?

I'm a little skeptical about partitions because I don't know what partitons to give Ubuntu. If I should install with partitions, could you give me instructions for installing that way? Thanks.

If you want simplicity : wubi.

If you want power and stability : dedicated partition.

Thanks. I'm going with simplicity for now. Serves me well. =)

EDIT: Or at least until I know what partitions I need for it...
