i have approx 41gb free space on my hard drive, so i choose to use this space for the ubuntu install but the partitioner has been stuck for at 0% for almost 30 minutes now.

i tried making a second partition of free space in windows but it wont make it. it says 0mbytes free to shrink volume.

the HDD indicator light has been flashing like crazy for the entire time i have been sitting here.

Thanks for the help, i was hoping to avoid using such meathods but if i must. but thank you that was a good read. i will say after using paragon partition manager i have managed to get ubuntu to start installing and hopefully i wont have kernal panic issues with this release.
