Hello,

Have a look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqcmPJ-oVL0

I would really really want to see this on Ubuntu and even though it is not open source, I am happy if companies develop commercial products for Linux since the support for linux will eventually grow.

So if you would like to see this please vote for a linux version on this page on the bottom right: http://bumptop.com/download.php

Thanks!

not open source mean it wont be added, sorry!

I saw this a really log time ago, but back then the desktop looked like a wood desk.

Also Linux/Gnome already has some of these features, like the icon expand option, and multiple desktops

No two people organize the same way. Hence I like the idea to let people organize thier desktop as they like.

I would love to see bumptop or alike for gnome.

While I do love the look of it, I'd prefer it if I had my normal 2D desktop. These "pile" things look nifty, but I think a better alternative would be showing the contents of a folder when you mouse over it.

Besides, I don't really use my desktop. It's really just there as a space for my windows and a nice place to stare off into space at (pretty wallpaper).

I like the ideas presented in the video, but I don't think an entirely 3D desktop is the solution.

Same here, I don't use my desktop. I file things away.

Don't take this the wrong way guys, but instead of voting for some proprietary app that will probably never appear on Linux, why don't we look into doing something like this with what we already have?

I'm pretty sure Compiz could do this, and more. I've not looked into Compiz development but I reckon it's possible based on the plugins we currently have.

Any views?

By looking at my real desktop I can draw the conclusion that, for me, using a thing like bumptop on my computer would wreak havoc to a level not even encompassed by "total disaster"...

It looks neat though...

I really don't understand what anyone sees in Bumptop. Sure we still use the term "desktop", but the desktop metaphor for a UI was left behind years ago.

Those limitations on the free version look annoying.

I see how some people could find use in this program, but I file everything away, so this program would have no meaning to me.
