There ain't much that's gonna change over the next couple of days.

If you know you're going to install it, get it now and beat the server "crush" on release-day.

It's a matter of personal preference.

In the interests of not having to worry about that sort of thing I prefer to wait. It's only another 48 hours!

Thank you very much for the info. That's what I was thinking to beat the rush.

No one can answer that without knowing your hardware specs ect, but it has been one of the best editions as far as I am concerned. Given that it is only a couple of days from the the full release, I'd say you were on solid ground downloading the RC. By applying the updates and patches over the next couple of days, you will end up with the full release.

Download it and try the live cd, if everything works, you are likely to be ok.

Just remember the usual about backing up your files ect ect. (Don't know why I say that, having a back up of your files is a requirement all the time, not only when installing a new system)

Daily Build CD's are as fresh as you can get: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/

There won't be much changes to the final version compared to the RC.

The RC stands for release candidate.

Theoretically it could be that they won't be doing any more changes, but that's unlikely.

We all have a bit-torrent client and I for one will install from CD rather than upgrading, as it is a lot safer.

None of this server "crush" you speak of for me! ;)

If your computer will run 8.10 well, you should be alright installing 9.04. It all depends on your computer.

I tried installing it on my dad's old laptop, and it sucked bad. But my dad's old laptop won't run any distro or version. I had to put XP on it.

And you're not going to beat the crowds. If you download it now, it will still have a lot of updates on release day.

or a novel idea would be to just wait a few days until after release day!

I downloaded 9.04 beta with no issues. Tried it, went back to Mint 6.

Pulseaudio is broken.

What else is new?

Pulseaudio works perfect for me, though, so your mileage may vary. Other posters on this form report that their audio works fine with PulseAudio now, as opposed to with Intrepid.

I download it, burnt the .iso, fired it up and cannot get past the install options. Get read error message.

Must be an issue with the current download, as I have tried burning the cd on two different machines now, and also tried installing on two different machines.

Looks like I will have to wait a few days.

The servers are already crushed, it's too late for that.

They do not understand torrents. :o

I prefer to torrent everything I can to save someone, somewhere some bandwidth.
