Hi, I just really want to install This (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Radial-Light-Clean-Transparent-Glassy?content=102974) theme but it needs Beryl Emerald, and I don't have it, and of course like a newbie I have no clue how the fu** install it.

I'm using Jaunty and the themes I use are GTK.. that is only copy-paste.
I will really appreciate if some of you guys can give me a quick-mini-tutorial-how-the-hell-install this thing.

PS: I will appreciate it more if you add me to AIM:
DriftNovice (AIM)
PSS: Im using Ubuntu 9.04 the Jaunty Jackalope

Thanks

Hi.

Beryl is no longer active - it merged with Compiz some time ago - but emerald will still work on compiz. If you have desktop effects enabled, you're already using compiz, by the way. Anyway, to install emerald, you should be able to simply "sudo apt-get install emerald". I know it's in the repos for Intrepid, and can see no reason that it should be absent in Jaunty. After installing emerald you should have an emerald theme manager in your menus which you can then open the theme in - don't forget that you need to switch to emerald with "emerald --replace" before it will show.

Hey, no problem. I just happened to remember from the community contributed docs. If you want to know any more about Compiz, there's an FAQ with links to plenty more in this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=809695).

Hi everyone,

newbie here too, just figured I'd add this link to the thread. I just did some of the desktop stuff (installing emerald, getting cario-dock installed etc) that is being asked about here based off this article (in Linux Format Magazine and free on the web of course)

http://www.tuxradar.com/content/make-linux-look-awesome

Just figured I'd put it out there.
