View Full Version : [ubuntu] upgrading from feisty

well, so i got ubuntu a couple of years ago and was pretty happy with it until i kinda missed the whole gutsy and hardy updates. i'm experiencing the "orange screen instead of OS" syndrome and can only run ubuntu on safe mode.
when i've tried to update my system it just won't happen, the files needed for that are unavailable since i dunno when.
i would gladly install from a cd or dvd, but having a sony vaio and a broken cd-dvd reader it's impossible for me to re-install that way or even the usb solution (my vaio just won't start from an usb flash card, it's not even in the bios options)

well, i'll be very happy to read any solutions you might find, or maybe i just gotta buy a new onboard cd reader? that would suck.
