I'm going to try Ubuntu again, but not sure which of the following would be best:

Install 8.10 and upgrade to 9.04 when released
or
Install 9.04RC and upgrade to 9.04 when released
or
Wait until 9.04 is released.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, but I remember reading once it was better to upgrade rather than a new install with Ubuntu.

I already have an 8.10 install backed up to disc set up as I like it which is why I asked.

If you do decide to upgrade to Jaunty, diable any ppa's you have in /etc/apt/sources.list, then make sure Intrepid is fully up-to-date before you begin the upgrade.

Download a Jaunty Daily Build CD, run it "Live" and see how it works out for you. You can then do a full-blown install to your hard drive from the same CD (when you're done being blown away by Jaunty generally speaking) and the regular updates, via the Update Manager, will keep you current even after Jaunty goes final. No muss, no fuss, no bother. No rubbing, no buffing!!

Plus you'll beat the "server crush" on release day.
