Well, I downloaded the beta ISO of Ubuntu 9.04 onto disc the other day, and decided to test it out today. I popped it in, and rebooted. I had high hopes, of course considering it was the latest release. I hoped to at least see the GUI.
Sadly, the furthest I ever got was the user login screen. It didn't recognize my keyboard or touchpad at all after the boot selection screen. I couldn't type a user name and I couldn't click anything. It eventually logged itself in; but I couldn't do anything on the desktop and I got some error before it crashed.
I wanted to document the problems more thoroughly, so I tried rebooting the disk, but to no avail. It merely gave me a black screen with a long, constant list of errors running down it. I shut down my computer and gave up trying after two hundred and fifty-five errors.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Or any other crashes?
Oh, and I'm running on a Compaq Presario CQ50 130-US notebook with a T3200 2.6 Ghz Intel Core Duo processor with two gigs of RAM and one hundred and sixty gig HDD.
