I want to keep practicing the art of compiling from source, can someone provide a tarball for this?

Hi Dragos,
There's a nice tutorial here on compiling Audacity. I did it myself, you learn a lot from it:

No i'm good at compiling, I even made a guide for it, sadly it's in the jail if you wish to see it. I just need the tarball of same-gnome.

Why don't you just use a source based ditro?

yeah, if you're going through the trouble of compiling many of your packages/applications/etc, there are quite a few distributions out there which are made for that. Slackware, Gentoo, Lunar, Arch with ABS, etc...
