Hi, I want to record myself to see the expression on my face on average. Don't ask me why, although you can, but just tell me what application would be good to record myself through the webcam built into my netbook. Assuming the custom eee linux kernel has detected my webcam, what would be good for recording this?

There's a program called Cheese. It's able to record video and snap pictures through your webcam.

I have the same problem. And I know it's Cheese's fault and not that my Linux can't properly work with my webcam because when I open up Ekiga and go to video mode the webcam video feed is significantly less laggy.

Edit > Preferences > Resolution

lower it, and lag will end.

you will need a new version if you are still using hardy: http://www.getdeb.net/release/3197

you may have to force install it, if you are using the lpia release...

Worked very well, for me! :)
...And I use a Lindy Webcam, a nightmare for Ubuntu Linux to work with!

Only one thing but it's a no-brainer, the camera will work only if you open the sources browser, and double-click on the camera descriptionthat pops out,but it works, ffrom then on, sound an all.

Nice!:KS

Do you realize you bumped a year old topic? Cheese works fine, but this is solved. I'll mark it that next time.
