Hi.

I know this isnt the latest version of ubuntu but its the one I happen to have on cd at the moment (Will be upgrading to JJ)

Anyway,

Im trying to load up into live cd mode, but it gets stuck at

running local boot scripts...

the screen blanks out, them comes back then blanks out again, i've tried pressing enter but nothing happens apart from a new line.

i did alt+f2 and went into terminal and ran:

sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start

which registered ok and the screen blanked again, but alas it came back on me into terminal.

Any help appreciated,
GCoffee

It may be as simple as a corrupted cd. You might try a fresh one. I myself have three or four lying around that won't run on this computer for whatever reason??!!

More than likely its a bad CD or CD-ROM Drive try burning the disk at a lower speed or if you have access to a new/used DVD / CDROM try testing with some new hardware

Hmm... I dont think it is a bad CD rom drive as I have sucsessfully loaded OpenSolaris on there, but it didnt have the WiFi drivers for my laptop so i removed it again.

Will try a new disk, I was going to get one when I went out but I completely forgot about it :(
