upon first boot:
1.) cannot play MP3s. the gnome sounds do work, but totem cannot play mp3s for "unknown reasons". I would like to play music.
2.) save/load dialog. Is there any way to revert these to gnome 2.4 behavior. or at least get the full thing to popup so i don't have to click "browse for other folders" each time. everytime i click it I kinda stare, wondering "where am i" both in reality and on the filesystem.
3.) bootsplash? any plans for such?
4.) repeat key lag. it takes too long for me to repeat keys. if i press a and hold, i get a when i should get aaaa. if i wait long enough it will start with key repeat.
5.) cannot seem to find wxPython. i am learning to program in wxPython.

this is x86_32.

If you want answers handed to you on a plate I'd suggest getting a copy of Windows and making that your primary OS.

One of the first things I learned about linux was that you actually have to research things. You have to do your homework.

I will tell you that MP3 support does not come with many flavors of *nix (it's proprietary, just like WMV, MOV, RA, etc.). ubuntuguide.org wil help you, though sorry I haven't copied and pasted everything here for you.

Google it. And, as always, this link helps too (http://catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html).

ok, i've got kde back, got mp3 back, got more debian sources. this fixed 1, 2, and 4, but still no wxpython, bootsplash. I actually hugged my monitor when i got kde back. i opened a file within 2 seconds! this beats my gnome best of about 20 seconds. I am obviously much better with kde. gnome also still had the graphical glitches and refresh problems it had everytime i've used it in the past.

hmm, and now i barely have sound in kde... very noisey, quite.
