Is there anyway to adjust the speed of the fan on my laptop cause it always gets extremely hot and usually gets higher than 70 degrees celcius while on power. I would like to set the speed higher on power and lower on battery.

Thanks

it depends what brand laptop you're using.

I have dell inspiron 1545 so that means i use i8k utilities such as gkrellm-i8k for x86 and/or i8kutils. i8k is kernel module for dell laptops, btw.

The problem i am having is i8k does jack sh*t for my laptop, which is a quite new low end model from dell so hopefully i8k isn't obsoleted by some new BIOS that can't be overridden.

My latop usually runs 50-60C. This is _WAY_ hotter than in vista, but is it unsafe to run this hot? Core 2 duo T6400
