when installing through the minimal cd install, also called cli installation, does it also install ubuntu specific tools like the hardware manager or the gimmit that downloads specific drivers for multimedia play if you need it, etc...

im asking because i`ve never used it and plan on installing a simple ubuntu from scratch, but dont want to miss the usual ubu-tools.

also, the new messaging system would be another example of what i mean.

if it doesnt install that by default, maybe a package named `ubuntu-tools` should be created, that contains all of these ubuntu specific implementations.

cheers and thanks for any response.

-btw, im talking about the 10mb minimal cd in the help section, not the `alternative` installation cd.

THe minimal install cd installs everything you need for a command line installation. Have a look at this guide (http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/minimal)

yeah well this doesnt really answer my question.
all i want to know is if the usual ubuntu tools are also installed when you install this personalized system, or if you have to apt-get them also, whatever their package names are...
