Dear all,

Please can any of you help?

I would like to know how to add additional (custom) resolutions to the gnome-display-properties tool?

Do any of you know where the tool gets its options from?

Also where does it save the settings because it doesn't seem to be xorg.conf?

Thanks
chris

Unfortunately, adding custom resolutions to gnome-display-properties is a long and complex process that involves manually editing xorg.conf that I have never succeeded in doing. If you want a resolution that hasn't already been added, you're pretty much out of luck, unless you're willing to complete one of the hardest tasks in Linux desktop configuration.

Of course, if you really want to, you can try.

I don't really have a problem with hacking around with xorg.conf. I have done it loads of times. My biggest concern at the momment is that in that latest version of ubuntu the xorg.conf is practically empty. So i really wonder what has happened to all the config options and where have they moved too?
