Upgrade from ubuntu to kubuntu

Is is possible to upgrade from Ubuntu 8.10 to Kubuntu 9.04?
And if so, what are the recommended steps?

I suppose you can just do a straight upgrade to jaunty and then install the kubuntu package (kubuntu-desktop) once the upgrading is done.
