View Full Version : [ubuntu] Hibernate reboots instead of resumes & swapon does not stick

April 17th, 2009, 02:05 PM
I installed Intrepid (8.10) last week on my Samsung X460 laptop. Hibernate and resume worked fine. I've been installing some programs and utilities over the last week, and I've resized some partitions.

Hibernate seems to work (screen goes black, harddisk activity, then computer goes off) but on resume the computer just boots up as if it never went to resume. The BIOS does indicate it's returning from a resumed state, but immediately after that GRUB just comes up and it's a boot-up as if from cold.

I have a swap partition, it's active and functioning.

Any hints as to where to start looking would be appreciated.
Thank you.

edit: unrelated swapon issue removed.

Any help would be appreciated. Without hibernate I would have to forfeit Ubuntu for Windows, as it's an unmissable functionality. I'd hate to have to do that.

It seems to be this same problem, but I'm not on 9.04 but on 8.10:
