hey guys,

I need to have the output of the command

sudo info coreutil

into a .txt or .doc or any text format to have it read later and learn from it. Can anyone help me please. I am not acquainted with "info" command so i don't know how to output it to a text document.

somebody recommended this

info --subnodes -O info.txt core

which i did and got an endless info.txt file with this

You can try

zcat /usr/share/info/coreutils.info.gz >coreutils

It will have the package information printed at the top, so it's pretty, but past that is all the information contained in the info page.

The command I gave you will create a file called coreutils in your current working directory.

If I wanted the file to be called coreutils-info and placed in my ~/Documents directory, the command would be

zcat /usr/share/info/coreutils.info.gz >~/Documents/coreutils-info

Just so it's clear, what do you see when you enter

info coreutils

I'd use redirection to get a textfile. This can be done typing the following into a terminal:
info coreutils > name_of_fileWhere name_of_file is the desired name of the output file. To learn more about redirection and other useful things use:
man bash
