what partition settings should I use?

I'm installing 8.10 from the disk and I want to partition the drive so I still have all the stuff I have in windows xp while I learn ubuntu.

I'm on step 4 of 7 on the install process. I have 180gb to play with. I want to use as little for ubuntu as I can get away with and never have problems.

How much should I allocate for Ubuntu?

I would suggest 10 gig that way you have some space to play around with.
