Ok, I have VMware server 2 installed from alien RPM, I now wish to add it into the applications bar, because It is not in there

I'm not sure why you'd install it with the RPM as you could just install it from the repositories but anyway...Click System -> Preferences -> Main Menu. Then select the menu where you want it to appear - probably the System Tools menu because that's usually where it appears - and click "New Item". Locate the binary which should be in /usr/bin and pick an icon.

Well see, it won't appear in intrepids's repositories, when I do apt-get vmware, it says it can't find it, do you need screenshots of software sources?

You do whatever works for you but that's how you can put it in your menu so it will be accessible in the future. I'm using 8.04 and I think the repositories differ.
