I want to install ubuntu 8.1 desktop via cmd line could anyone help me out or point me to a guide.

i want to do it because once it is installed i can get around the ati graphics card problem

Easy. From the command line:


sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

That will give you the same installed system as if you'd installed from the regular live CD.

it just gave me a bunch of numbers one said 0 updates 0 new and stuff like that bear with me my 2 other computers need a new ps(hard core gaming systems) so im working off my laptop.

I was thinking i want to keep my xp side for a bit so i would technically have to resize my partitons and all that could i do that through cli(checking the error)

ok again as i said 1 computer and its the one i want to install ubuntu on so
also i am using a ubuntu 8.1 desktop edition i have read that code applies to the server edition so i highly doubt that it was even an error it ran as it was suppose to in the desktop edt cmi
