Actually it's built into the ubuntu installation you probobly already have installed.

Just install Compiz settings manager (ccsm) and look in your control center/cube and you'll find all sorts of options for the glitz you see in the youtube video's and its very easy to setup.

Have fun!

Open the terminal and run this command:

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

Now go to System > Preferences > compizconfig settings manager. Under the desktop part activate desktop cube and rotate cube. In the bottom right corner of your screen you probably currently have a desktop switcher for two desktops. Righ click and click preferences and change that from 2 to 6. Now you should be able to click with the mousewheel on the desktop and drag the mouse to rotate the cube.

Here is my favorite theme. You'll find thousands more on the site.

Update: Only find out of date ones. sorry.

It's only frustrating if you let it be frustrating. It's an adventure for me. I like learning new stuff.

Here's a video tutorial:

Just 1 more point: the desktop cube only displays 4 sides, the top and bottom are not workspaces.

The top and bottom are not workspaces but you can have octagons, pentagons, or other shapes if you want. You are not limited to cubes. And you can put pictures on the top and bottom.
