The comp I am using needs to be locked down so end users can't get to it.
If i can get rid of all panels this will be handy. I still need to access a gui sometimes though.
I am trying to launch apps on a a gnome desktop from a terminal window over SSH, that want to know what display to use. The SSH session is on my laptop and the Program should run on the machine I am connected to. I want to be able to launch stuff like a terminal and file browser and gconf-editor.
IDK command for terminal or file browser, but do know some commands that i need to run:
system:~$ gconf-editor
cannot open display:
Run 'gconf-editor --help' to see a full list of available command line options.
system:~$
I opened help for that command but am not sure how to determine the name of the display that gnome is running on.
Also if u guys know the command line to invoke a gnome file browser and a terminal session that would be great.
