I am using Ubuntu 7.10 and want to upgrade to 8.01. I also want to create a separate partition for my /home directory. (I purchased the computer from Dell with 7.10 already installed.)
I have read many times that the best way to upgrade is to do a clean install. I have already did a backup of my /home dir through Ubuntu. If I do a clean install, can I restore the Ubuntu /home backup or will it be read wrong?
OR, should I create a separate /home directory using something like this (http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/separatehome) and then do a clean install?
