I just installed Ubuntu 8.10 on a Compaq Presario cq60 206us. I tried the AMD64 version and that hung during the install and then tried the 386 version and that installed fine. I added the NVIDIA driver and everything seems to working well except for the Atheros WiFi. It looks like them system isn't even recognizing the card.
I tried to activate the built in driver and that seem to have no effect. When I do a ifconfig I see the eth0 interface and the loopback interface and no wireless interface.
Wondering if anyone has suggestions for getting Ubuntu completely up and running. Seems to be working fine otherwise with a hardwired ethernet connection. Not much use on the road if I can't get the WiFi up and running.
Pretty slick though. Beats Vista.
