I seem to be having a few problems when im trying to install, or use the demo, of ubuntu (8.10). I have 1024MB (1gb) of ram, so I know thats not the problem but after ubuntu loads from the cd and goes through the loading screen it goes to a black screen and says this:

*Preparing restricted driver... [ ok ]
*Setting the system clock
*starting basic networking... [ ok ]
*Starting Kernal Event Manager... [ ok ]

udevd-event[4199]: run-program: '/sbin/modprobe' abnormal exit
udevd-event[4188]: run-program: '/lib/udev/path_id' abnormal exit

Segmentation fault
/etc/reS.d/sloudev: 105: readlink: not found
/etc/res.d/sloudev: 1: usplash_write: not found
init: rcS main process (3816) killed by segv signal
init: unable to execute "/bin/sh" for rc-default: no such file or directory
init: rc-default main process (4934) terminated with status 255

I did a CD corruption check when it asks to install, live demo, and etc. and it said the CD was not corrupted...

Im using Windows-XP right now..

Please help me =(

-thanks
