Do you think that if 50% of linux applications turned to closed source and costed a penny, do you think that this would change the way we do things? What effects would it have on ubuntu? Discuss.

Well they would have to figure out an easy way to pay for the applications and given that ubuntu/oss is used by people all over he world, that would be no easy task. This would probably mean that those programs would need to be removed from the repositories (at least temporarily), etc. Would it stop me from using oss? probably not but it would be a major headache.

Edit: sorry, I missed the bit about changing to closed source, if that was the case then it would have a much bigger impact than just charging for the software. You wouldn't have the support for multiple architectures that oss offers.
