Upgrade 8.04 to 8.10

I will aprettiate very much your help in how to do this upgrade is it possible to do without formatting de HD ?.

First of all you want to protect your files,so if you don´t have separare home partition make it now by following this (http://www.ivankuznetsov.com/2008/04/moving-home-to-its-own-partition.html) guide.After that you can upgrade via net or with alternate CD.You can find upgrade instructions here. (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading)

You can update the Ubuntu install with update manager and it will do all the hard stuff for you.

Try going to http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading and see if that works.
