things like RSS feed, podcast, wiki, even further development of GPL/GNL open source stuff... many things that used to cost money (like setting up forums, setting up live support on your website) are now free...

this has happened in the say about last 4-5 years... I think internet has a very bright future :)

Ditto. Even M$ can't ignore the technilogical revolution. Remember that recent story where M$ was forced to incorporate open file standards into their next version of office or else a whole US state wouldn't use their software. Yep, the end is near for them...

While I agree mostly, I'm skeptical about the nature of one coming trend, which is keeping and working on your own data primarily on someone else's remote server, and with new stuff coming up including but not limited to google's web based office suite, this is the way things seem to be heading. I prefer to keep it local, as local as possible.

Don't forget about the new online gaming freebies such as buddy lists/game launchers, mmorpg's and fps's. The future does look brighter. Let's hope is more secure as well. On a simillar free note: I'll be releasing a white paper on web application security very shortly. This will help developers secure their web apps from the most common and dangerous exploits. The initial release will be in Cold Fusion, but it will also be released for PHP and ASP (in that order) as well. :)

i think i heard MS are going to get rid of hotmail and use something else instead. i just found this which says the same.

i use rss alot for podcasts and vidcasts but i don't use any of those social bookmark things for my stuff, only to browse.

i've recently seen alot of web based programs for things like office programs, paint, bookmarks, there's a gamil extension for windows which lets you use gmail as a drive - GMail Drive. there are others i forget about. i like to do stuff locally too atm.

if you like all this stuff there's a podcast called Inside the Net with ambermac and leo laporte, it talks about things like flickr, Flock, AJAX etc. i'm sure you can subscribe somewhere, i can't get to what i think is the home page atm, but the shows urls are:

EDIT i just found this link with a big picture of Amber
