I have been researching this all day without results before I posted.

I upgraded 8.04 to 8.10.

My computer freezes with:
Aperture beyond 4GB. Ignoring.

Here are my specs:
amd690 GM-M2 Rev 1.0A
64bit motherboard AMD dual core processor
nVidia GeForce 7600 GT

I am only able to use my 8.04 live CD to do anything but through that I have access to my 8.10 install.

Is there any solution?

check the first link regarding launchpad.

I am very grateful for your assistance. Is there anyway to downgrade so I don't have to do a fresh install?

Unfortunately there is no easy way to downgrade you would need to backup your important data and do a clean install.

Or you could do a clean install of 8.10

A clean install of 8.10 does exactly the same thing.
Is it possible to upgrade to the beta version and save everything?

Perhaps I could somehow get my snapshots out of the 8.10 if I knew where they were.

Is it at all possible to upgrade my system?
Is this problem between kubuntu and amd 64 eternal?
I cannot even update my nvidia driver to NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-180.44-pkg2 because I am trapped in 8.04 (I guess).

Praise Jesus! I am free from being stuck! I took the risk and upgraded Jaunty which has no problems with freezing at the:

Aperture beyond 4GB. Ignoring. under Intrepid

I was also able to upgrade my nvidia 180.44! HalleluYah!

God bless the Ubuntu developers!
