Disk format and 9.04

When the new version of Ubuntu 9.04 (?) is released later this month I am planning on making the jump and formatting my machine. I am currently duel booting with windows Vista and 8.10.

Can someone point me to detailed directions on how to format my machine and make suggestions on how to partition my drive and why? Or maybe just keep it one drive.

If possible I am looking for instructions on all steps form downloading the new version, making a CD, format and installation.

I know this may be a tall order so I thank you all in advance. Bob.

There is no real need to "update" to EXT4, you can keep all your current files, system and such when 9.04 comes out and it wont force a "update" to ext4

Thanks but I want to format and start with a clean slate. I will back up my files and start fresh.
