Hi
I downloaded 8.10 2 days back.
I have already 7.04 version
Please guide how should I upgrade it ?

I tried to format the partition where 7.0.4 version is installed
But of no use

Thanks

Perhaps I'm not understanding what you're asking: it appears that you've obtained a version of 8.10, either from the Dell site or from another (trusted!) source? If that's so, I think that you need to perform a fresh install, which will erase everything on your disk and replace it with a pristine Ubuntu image. I suspect that you want to back up your /home directory?

I'd ask before doing anything.

Thanks for the reply

I tried booting from Ubuntu 8.10 version CD
When it reaches the Step -4 (Looking for partitions)
It does not over ride the partition in which Ubuntu 7.0.4 is installed
Instead it tries to create a new partition and then my laptgop shuts down

I tried many times But could not proceeed further

Please assist
