View Full Version : [ubuntu] Not able to start ubuntu after successful installation

April 11th, 2009, 05:29 AM

Today I downloaded ubuntu 8.10 iso file (for 32 bit) and burnt the image disk and installed it. My PC already has windows XP so on top of it I installed ubuntu (in D: drive). It said the installation is successful and asked me to reboot the PC.

I booted the PC with ubuntu OS and after 10 min it asked for passwd/uname. I entered correct username and password. However even after 30 mins I could not log on to the ubuntu os (i could not see anything (like desktop) except the blank screen). Does it take some time for the first time?

Please explain.

I'm guessing that your running a computer with Intel integrated graphics, most likely a Dell.

Ubuntu 8.10 will not boot with integrated graphics, your better off with 8.04 until 9.04 is released
