Hi,
I am using a Dell laptop - d830 with an intel integrated video card.

I want to try out some themes and haven't quite figured out how to install them yet? I downloaded a couple and pulled the .tar.gz files into the appearance window as detailed and it does prompt to install and use the theme.

However when I go back into the Themes window to select one of the new items i installed it isn't there.

The apply after installing appears to have worked.

One is the plexis mac theme - it says you need GTK + Emerald which I installed.

I am using compiz for the extra stuff, so I am confused on how to install or I guess keep it so I can select this theme? Then also what is the difference in gtk, emerald, compiz, or metacity, etc? Do I have to turn something off? Here is a pic of one I found I like, but no idea how to get it working.

I don't know what the bar on the right is, I believe conky but i read that is very hard to setup and get working?

I haven't had much luck at all getting graphics going, my integrated intel card still won't give me the resolution I should be getting.
