I've noticed that there are a number of emulators available for some of the really old mainframe architectures. What I'd find interesting, though, is a program that allowed you to design your own architectures and experiment with them on a virtual machine or emulator, especially odd ones based on stuff like Balanced ternary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balanced_ternary). Does anyone know of such a program?
