I'm getting the itch to build something, I'm just not sure what. I've been thinking a Media Center PC maybe... Something that would integrate with my DVR (from Cox), maybe stream movies and or radio or whatever. I dunno...

I've got some spare hard drives a spare router lots of cables and miscellaneous parts in bins and boxes and an ever increasing itch to buy computer parts. What to do? What to build? Suggestions, please... Willing to experiment with things like Mythbuntu. Open to anything really, except MS and/or Windows software. Want to keep this Linux based. Duh.

No real budget on this (bachelor here with Geek-supportive GF) but it's not like I'm independently wealthy either so keep any ideas in the "sub $1K" ballpark?

Thanks in advance.

How about one of these (http:///www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboards/d945gclf2-d945gclf2d/d945gclf2-d945gclf2d-overview.htm) and a small quiet case. I've built a system using the single core version of the motherboaed and use it for a media center pc. I'm currently using xbmc, but I may change to something else. You know what the say, the grass is always greener on the other side. :)

That's tiny. I personally want to wait and build something really neat once the nVidia Ion comes out.

Dude. That's looking pretty tasty! Even Better: It's only ~$80 on Newegg.

Things are heating up... Now I just need a purpose!

... once the nVidia Ion comes out.
