Preferably one that is not trying to mimic another OS. Also i find that a lot of the "cool" ones aren't very practical as in they look cool but are hard to work with e.g. black themes. Anyone come across any interesting ones?

I like New Wave with the Dark Menus control set and the Dust window border. These come with Jaunty, but I was able to install them in Hardy.

Call me biased, but I like Seven Redo.

Me too like the Dust theme. New Wave also looks nice..

I used the Radial (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/radial?content=71352) buttons for Beryl before, but Beryl feels a little bit unstable..

New Wave with Human Clearlooks buttons/borders and the Buuf icon-set.

Finally! Color and rounded borders/corners without everything de-volving into a Playskool/Windows-esque sort of experience.

Moomex-Ultimatum or w/e is quite nice.

Especially when combined with the "Technix" openbox theme.

I currently like Macchiatio and its predecessor, Dust. I followed a HOWTO on hacking the Dust theme to get Murrine RGBA support on it :-) Unfortunately my favourite web browser is Flock, not Firefox... and Flock has its own custom interface for which there is no Dust theme :-(

When all these threads come about, I always mention the "White?!" theme but nobody seems to have heard of it. It's a beautiful white and orange theme that I've always thought should be preinstalled on Ubuntu.

Sugar (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Sugar?content=101757) is by far the best theme I've found so far.

i like the aurora gtk themes and the eikon2, or somatic icons best for gnome. a lot depends on the wallpaper i'm using, as i try to use themes that go with my wallpaper. with so many elements having to be visible in gnome, though, it's more limited in what one can do (as opposed to something like openbox where you can have just a wallpaper by itself, should you wish).

Well first of all I set all the fonts from size 10 to size 8 which looks much nicer. Then I use Dust Sand, Gnome-Do Docky, Shere Khan X mouse, Gnome Colours icons.
If only I could change the colour of the menus (right click, drop down etc) because I don't like the grey menus that dust Sand gives.

I like 'Hand Crafted from Cedar' or something like that.
But I don't set it all the time.

I've like Bluebuntu and Ubuntu Studio but both of those remove the Ubuntu logo and replace it with the Gnome foot or the Ubuntu Studio logo.

So I'm doing a blue~ish mix-mash right now.

Sugar (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Sugar?content=101757) is by far the best theme I've found so far.

That does look pretty good. I like clean (which is why I keep going to Xfce so I can remove all of the panels and what-nots but always seem to return to Gnome for functionality).

I currently like Macchiatio and its predecessor, Dust.

Just FYI, Dust is not a predecessor to Macchiato. While there are some aspects of Macchiato that are inspired by features of both Dust and Glow Ibex, I never made it to replace either of those themes.

I use shiki (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Shiki-Colors?content=86717), although i also really like die hard (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Die+Hard+4.0+GTK+theme?content=84355), which is unlike any theme i've ever seen.
