I have recently noticed an estate agent near my girl friends with a strangely familiar logo... here’s a screen shot of there website and a link...

(sorry about the XP horribleness but I'm on my girl friends laptop)

Now this opens up an interesting conundrum since Ubuntu is free to the masses therefore they should be entirely free to use whatever they like from Ubuntu. However does anyone agree with me that taking the logo without crediting its creator is just a step to far?

I'd like to know what the community’s opinion is or what should be done; I personally advocate Bolton Uubuntu users boycotting them! :lolflag:

Thanks dudes!

In future just report it to http://www.ubuntu.com/contact/trademarkviolation

The ubuntu logo is a trademark. Just because the source code of the software is open, doesn't mean everything on an Ubuntu LiveCD has a totally permissive licence. Firefox also has trademarked branding, for example.

So yes, these people are infringing on Ubuntu/Canonical's trademarks, and should be bodyslammed with the full force of the law. Or more to the point, they should sack whoever did their graphic design.

They didn't violate anything. The colors are different, therefore it's a completely new logo! :D

On the same subject, I also saw a coffee company truck driving around my city with the Ubuntu logo thieved. Can't remember the name of the company though.
