View Full Version : 3d to 2d Easter Egg

Ok, so I'm making a texture (in GIMP) for a 3D model of an Easter egg. And this is kinda urgent as, you know, Easter isn't that far off. After more than half an hour of Googling, I still can't figure out how the texture is supposed to be shaped. If you still don't get it, what I mean is like a map projection, or like if you ripped apart a box and laid it flat, except with an shpherical shape. It'd be even better if someone could point me to a predrawn template. :guitar:

I'm only familiar with 3ds Max myself, though I'm assuming you don't use that as it's windows only.

In a more generic sense, look up UVW unwrapping.

This tutorial actually uses Blender if that's what you're using.
