Installation locks up

I am trying to install 8.04 on a laptop.
The install locks up on 'installing system' at 15% complete.
"detecting file systems..." is displayed

I an doing a "guided - use entire disk' install since I somehow messed up the partition table.

Have you tried using some of the install options available through F6?

Like nolacpi, or acpi=off.
