I've been searching for an hour now on how to create a live USB boot for Ubuntu netbook-remix. The guide posted on their wiki page only accounts for doing it if you already have linux installed and I cannot seem to find a decent application for creating one from the img file posted. Could any of you point me in the right direction?

This is my first linux experience by the way. I can already tell how xp bogs down my little AspireOne and a friend of mine has said that linpus really helped his so I figured the ubuntu netbook OS might be fun to try out as well.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Take a look at the guide below, and good luck.

I notice both of those programs ask for an ISO instead of an IMG file. Will this make any sort of difference?

I used UNetbootin but I don't think it worked. Instead of allowing me to test things out without installing, it takes me to the busybox command terminal. Is there a command that needs entering from there to move forward or have I already acted in error?

I'm bumping this in an attempt to get more information. I still can not figure out why my install is not working properly. I apologize for anyone it may annoy but I truly would like to give this OS a go and am truly disheartened that I can't get it working.

Well, it looks like the busybox issue is a bug some have been experiencing. There is no fix suggested.

I've looked at the UNR-Wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UNR), and apparently, you can have Ubuntu running from the cd, so that if you have a desktop computer, do try that. There are also other way of making a usb installer without Ubuntu.

Hi,

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromImgFiles

you might of found this already on the ubuntu website. I installed it on my aspire One yesterday using this method with no probs. All hardware seems to be supported by default (wireless, LAN, webcam etc)

I liked Linpus (once I disabled the lockdown on it), it seems to be a nice wee distro but I prefer ubuntu netbook remix personally.
