I have a vcr at work which needs to no longer work. It can not be evident that someone broke it. Or look intentional needs to look like it just crapped out. I tried googling it but you can imagine just alot of sledge hammers and bombs came up. Any help?

I'm not sure I understand what you want: is the VCR intended as a dummy machine in a security system, a bit like a fake security camera that tricks people into behaving themselves?

No we currently use it to record, but have gotten word that if it fails to work it will not be replaced. which would get rid of a lot of paperwork.

Crack 'er open when nobody is around and use a cigarette lighter to melt the insulation off the windings of the internal inverter then reassemble. This will accomplish two things:
1)It will short out the windings and will kill it.
2)Will give a nice burnt plastic/rubber smell to make it a little more believable.

I'm closing this thread, as we don't need to help the OP break company property, just so he doesn't have to do paperwork that he is paid to do.
