View Full Version : [ubuntu] Random hang ups on install

Hey, newbie here.

Got a CD of Ubuntu, live CD session went great, decided to install.

However, I cannot seem to get the install to finish. I keep getting these random hang ups/freezes. First time was on time zone select, second at 27% copying files. CD drive just stops spinning, along with HD. Caps Lock keylight flashes upon freeze, but I'm not sure if that is related.

Thoughts? New to Linux, and a little bit frustrated by this.

How fast did you burn the ISO image to a CD? Also, run the check cd for defects option to make sure the CD is good at the initial screen.

Ran the CD check before install. Reported everything as ok... Is there something I should change in the f6 menu perhaps?

Try the safe graphics mode option--F4.

Sweet, thanks. Trying the graphic safe option, at 42%, but if it freezes again ill try that workaround.

When I installed it froze for some time at 86%, but it was normal.
IDK about others.

Safe graphic option worked. Now running on Ubuntu. Not to sound like too much of a newb but this is awesome. So much more responsive than my vista machine. Love it. Thanks guys.
