Having weird rendering issues with fonts and icons in ubuntu 9.04.
GLX gears works fine.
Anything 3D rendered works fine.
However all fonts and icons are not rendered correctly.
See attached image.
I've tried numerous things:
1) installing ubuntu 8.10
2) use the try ubuntu boot cd for 9.04 and 8.10
3) replaced the graphics card with a NVidia MX 400 and also a PCI (not express) Geforce 6200
4) replaced hardrive
So I am thinking it could be a driver issue perhaps related to the motherboard chipset?
Here are the current specs:
Asus P4S8X-X
Geforce mx 440 64mb sdram
WD 40gb hardrive
Celeron 2.0 Ghz
