I've created a USB stick for use on my lenovo T60 work laptop, The supplied graphics driver works to an extent, however on changing the appearance preferences to a higher level, intrepid downloaded the proprietary ati driver.

The driver requires a restart to load, but on restart does not become active, infact the situation becomes worse as the screen is no longer composited and will no longer run applications like AWN.

How do I get the driver to activate?

How do I get rid of the driver again so at least I have a composited screen even if it wont do the 3d things im trying to achieve?
