Some strange problems have recently appeared on my intrepid installation, (on an Eee 1000). The problems all seem to be centered around gnome getting user/login information.
My fast-user-switch-applet has disappeared from my panel, and whenever I try to add it again I simply get a blank white space, although gconf says the applet has installed.
Also, if I lock the screen the "switch user" option has disappeared completely as well as all of the information about the current user that is usually displayed in the center of the dialog.
Commands like `w` and `who` seem to be working fine.
