Hi.

My friend's giving me this laptop b/c he's getting a new one :)

It has great CPU, RAM, HDD, etc, but it has an intel graphics card.

Will that prevent me from using Compiz Fusion?

Thanks

Compiz runs well-ish on my integrated Intel X3100.

I have heard people having problems with older intel cards......guess you'll have to wait and see :)

When you say well-ish do you mean that all the features are fine but the quality is crappy, or some of the features are not working right?

I have an old laptop i've dedicated to ubuntu testing (and use, everyday!) and it has always taken a little tinkering but i get compiz to work. In 8.04 it just worked, in 8.10 and now 9,its required a little tweaking due to ubuuntu not recognizin the card as what it is, an intel 855. (4-5 years old). This is about the most cheap/basic of onboard video you can get, and compiz works well-ish as well. Try it and the folks here will get you going. I'm the type of person that turns off the eye candy on all my xp computers, but turns on compiz. I dont know why but I like it!
p.s. Ill define wellish for mine, everything works, just a little slow. Not slow enough to make me turn it off by any means.
