Could someone tell me if any of the internet accountability programs are compatible with Linux (i.e. Net Nanny, Cyber Patrol, Covenant Eyes, Safe Eyes, etc.)?? If there aren't, will any of them run in Wine? And I was wondering that if I do run one of them in Wine will it only block and filter the internet browser I use in Wine and not the normal browser for Ubuntu? Any help would be very much appreciated. I am very new to all this.

I would like whatever software it is to block me from going to certain sites that contain specified criteria and let some of my friends know through e-mail that I tried to access those sites. That's what Net Nanny does.

Great response. I think AA is needing a motivational speaker such as you. "Why not just not drink?"

You might find something interesting here, Sir:

I have a buddy who uses covenanteyes on PC and another on a Mac so your post caught my eye. It does not look like there is a good solution for Linux, but the link above has various user comments and links you might find useful.

Actually that is a misnomer about AA. The way to stop drinking is through the suggested program of recovery: the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous- a spiritual solution. Drinking is just a symptom of the real problem(s)

I'd recommend OpenDNS too. It can log all your activity and filter for specific types of content. No software required, just register a free account and point your router at their nameservers.

I was being sarcastic. :)
