I saw a huge thread on people not running windows and though it good to run a quick (maybe not) poll.

Let's see some interesting stats...

Stuck with Windows for P2P downloading. My internet connection doesn't have much love for .torrents, and I haven't found a P2P solution for Linux that works as well as Morpheus. Maybe it's my connection, or that I haven't looked in the right place.

I'm a gamer, and I drag my reliable ol' laptop to LAN parties every month. Cedega and Wine just doesn't cut it, to be honest, so I'm still dual booting.

Linux only at the moment... though I have been known to frequently dual-boot with other unices....

Linux only for me, it is bad enough having clients that use windows!

Dual-Boot here. First, I already paid $149.00 for WinXP Pro so I am going to have it installed. I also use my Windows partition for games and ther things that Linux does not do well. I spend most of my time on Kubuntu since it does almost every thing I need and is more secure and stable overall.

I'm doing a dual boot Windows and Ubuntu on my notebook. My server runs Ubuntu, and my desktop runs Windows XP. My desktop used to be for work/gaming, but it's slowly being turned into a gaming machine only. My notebook is my new work/game/all-around box running Ubuntu. It's dual booted, but since reinstalling Windows then installing Ubuntu, I haven't booted into it once. :)

My computer is totally windows free... so, when using my own puter, it's Linux only. At school, though, the computers only have Windows... (buhuu.... *cries rivers*) so there I'm usually forced to use WinXP if I want to go online (wireless network is for employees only... no fair...).

At work I use Ubuntu w/wine for 99% of my day to day tasks. I only need wine for 1 app that has no replacement in linux. I also have WinXP on my machine to run my company's payroll software which I can't bring myself to run under wine due to its occasional instability.

At home, I dual-boot Ubuntu and WinXP. I use linux for everything but games. I have tried using the CVS version of Cedega and recently loaded the timedemo but still cant get it to run games that on the 'officially supported' list...most notably SW Kotor2. I have an ATI X800XL video card which further complicates things for gaming with linux. I would love to be able to ditch Windows at home but cant. :(

Linux only on my desktop and Windows on my laptop (need WPA and never got wpa_supplicant to work).

If WPA wireless was click and go like windows and Google Earth came to linux then even that last bastion of windows would gather dust as I much prefer to work in Linux.

Linux only, due to a slight installation error with the Breezy CD. The kernel was corrupt, the boot sector was hosed, Hoary live CD to the rescue. When all was said and done I figured it was faster and less of a headache to go straight linux on my desktop. The laptop may be dual boot, I haven't decided yet. It will, however, be a little less...uhm..problematic..:)

dual boot

primarily because my stupid wireless card is completely impotent in linux.

but also because i love 'age of empires'. it would peobably work with wine but since i need to dual boot already i don't bother trying to get it working.

Linux only. I don't need Windows right now. Oh, and because I like to think that Bill Gates cries whenever he hears about his market share slowly slipping away, something I can help with by not supporting Windows :-D. Really, though? I don't like Windows too much. It's not configurable enough, and it's pretty unstable as compared to linux. Someday, when I get a decent graphics card, I might make a partition for Windows so I can run games with minimal hassle, but, for now, Windows is pointless for me to have.

Interesting... 200+ people so far viewed but only 70 odd do the poll... If you do make the effort to view please complete the poll --- Pleeze. (Unless of course you only run Windows :p)

I use Windows XP SP2 as my only OS because Linux isn't compatible with my printer or scanner and because it's my parents computer and not mine.

Sometime this year my parents are probably going to get a new computer and I'll get the old computer and be able to do whatever I want on it.

I run ubuntu fully on my laptop and fully on my pc.
Although from time to time when I get really annoyed I feel like installing windows to play games, but as each day goes by I learn more and now I dont want to change my pc to windows because I can play all my favourite Games in Windows.
Even just today I got Savage:the battle for Newerth running on my PC,
So yeah, I am pretty thrilled with Ubuntu to say the least.
And I know that I am Linux for good now at this stage. Windows means nothing to me anymore.

Dual boot, Windows is main because I use Flash, Photoshop, and play BF2. However I primarily use Ubuntu on my laptop, which also has a dual-boot.

morpheus? oh man - even on windows does that suck.

you want soulseek for music (and the linux version of soulseek is nicotine).
and bittorrent for movies, music, porn, whatever else.
the key to bittorrent is getting an invite to the private trackers...like oink.

Dual boot. Until I can do everything I want with Linux. Then Mr W Gates can go and try and develop something that doesn't die twice a day.

Using the trial version of Crossover office just for fun.. And using Kubuntu only... I still have Windows installed, but just because I am too lazy to wipe....hehe

Windows only.

Ill install FreeBSD or Linux on my new computer when I get it sometime, but for now, having two OSes on a 20gb hard drive isnt that possible considering im downloading more stuff.

99.9999% Linux. I use one application in Wine to help my dad out since it's a custom engineering program written for FileMakerPro. And, unless anybody with HVAC engineering experience wants to program something interoperable and for Linux, I'm stuck at only 99.9999%...but I was 100% before I came home for winter break...and I'll probably be 100% once I go back to school :)

Still dual booting, just not as much as before. I found a few other possibilities to revive Windows ME without reinstalling, so far two failed and two to go. However, if I can get Wine to run key software I had running under Windows, game over, there will be only one partition for old-school DOS games and several Linux partitions.

I voted linux only. My laptop is pure ubuntu while my desktop is a dual boot, the only reason I ever boot XP is for games, but since xp is screwed up and I have little free time I havent booted it in months really.

Only think I cant do in linux other than games is use my minidv camera

Laptop's running Linux (a semblance of Kububtu), and the other three computers in the house--one mine, the others not--running Windows. After fixing a few annoyances on the laptop, it looks like I'll be using it a lot more in the coming months....

I voted "Linux Only (What is Windows ?)". Because I haven't booted into windows for a real long time.

Actually I only boot into windows when I really have to scan something because my scanner canon D646U isn't properly supported. I almost never user my scanner. But sometimes it's really handy to have a scanner.

I'm still running Mac OS X Tiger on my G4 iMac because it isn't too bad :o
The graphical applications, FreeHand, InDesign and Photoshop are essential and besides that I'm running tetex 3 for ages with this OS.
Ubuntu is still stuck with version 2 and that's a real shame

I'm running a dualboot. WinXP and Ubuntu 5.04. For the past six or so months I've been using XP only. Still waiting to have the programs I need (Adobe suite) in linux and a proper support for my hardware (printer, scanner, camera, etc...).

I chose the one that best fit.

Currently, I have two Ubuntu (one for my main use, one for experimenting with,) Windows 98 SE for commercial gaming, and I also run emulated Amiga OS occasionally with UAE, within linux.

I also sometimes install MSDOS or FreeDOS to replay old DOS games that I have.

Linux only. I had one last crash with Win 98SE that broke the camel's back. Rather than re-installing Win 98SE & having to run throuh a series of updates to it & IE6 etc. I figured I'd try out those Ubuntu Hoary Disks that showed up in the mail. ( Besides Microsoft was dropping support for 98, witness the WMF patch today. Listed as critical by everyone except Microsoft )

Having more balls than brains I proceeded to use the install CD ( Live CD, we don't need no stinkin' Live CD ) off and on again for about 2 weeks (became quite the expert at installing & partioning & setting up a minimal dual boot system to get on the Forums here)
Found an old 33.6k hardware modem (in one of my old computer's pile) to replace my totally unsupported ( in linux ) 56K 3COM/USR 0637 winmodem. Swapped out a bad hard disk ( memory chip in it's buffer had a bad address line, found and diagnosed using linux ). This was probably the cause of the Windows crashes I was experiencing.
Installed Xubuntu and this old machine flies. It was like finding the fountain of youth.

I'm now using Breezy with Gnome/XFCE/Enlightenment installed and an XFCE-Enlightenment Desktop Environment. (Gnome Desktop is my security blanket)

I dual boot but I only boot XP to play Battlefield 2 and sometimes Civ 4. I detest going into Windows though. I am looking forward to the day I wipe it completely. Just have to stop playing games! ;)

A few years back I always dual boot. But I noticed if there were a few problems I couldn't figure out so easy I switched back to Windows (since it was easy to do so). When I started using Linux only I noticed I did a bit more effort sorting out problems but having more fun and actual being busy with working instead of just scooping around playing with settings.

Linux only for me, and moving as many people as I can to Linux, or at least show them the virtues of using Linux online and only using Windows offline.

I took great joy in dancing on my Windows CDs before launching them into a landfill.
