I watch movies on my hard drive and in Ubuntu it only lasts about even less than half the amount of time XP does. It says the estimate time is 45 minutes and thats about the amount of time XP lasted. But when I unplug it it says 90% right at the start I have the LCD backlight down and the CPU running at 800MHz on battery power. It is a HP Pavilion dv5217c3 and I use VLC to watch the movies. If there is any more information that you need I will provide it.

I just did this all I was doing is browsing the internet at 800MHz. It also look really screwy I guess it starts out right at 80%.

I would start by comparing the differences between your two enviorments, useage, etc. I have Win7 and Ubuntu and then multiple os's in VB and Ubuntu is by far the best for mine. By more then an hour, and thats with alot of effects in Ubuntu as well as Win7

I took XP off of here and only have Ubuntu on here now but I think my battery is really messed up. It charges some times when I was not even using it.
